New to the Frederick area ? Entering a new stage in life and looking for something exciting to do ? New Friends Club of Frederick opens a door for women to make new friends and discover new activities.
New Friends Club of Frederick is primarily a social group. Promoting friendship is our goal. We also support humantiarian projects in the Frederick community through our annual fundraisers where all proceeds are donated to a local charity.

Luncheon and Monthly Meeting

- January Luncheon Tuesday, February 11th, 2025 Location: Brewer's Alley 124 North Market Street Frederick, MD 21701 Time: 11:30 AM You are invited to Brewer's Alley for a delicious plated lunch, and a play! Please note: we are limited to 55 attendees so RSVP as soon as possible. All lunches include a beverage and cash bar – iced tea, water, coffee, and soda. Alcohol costs will be on your own. All Entrees are served with warm dinner rolls and a side house salad. Plus enjoy a dessert of Brewer’s cookies. Select your entrée and write your choice on the memo section of your check. Make the check payable to New Friends of Frederick and mail to New Friends of Frederick at P.O. Box 3007, Frederick, MD 21705 to confirm your spot. Please note, it is no longer necessary to complete a form in the newsletter to select an entree, just write your choice on your check, and mail the check. Need to cancel? Email Pat McCargar as she may have a wait list. Please have your check in the mail by the February 1 reservation deadline. If you have not received an acknowledgement of your check by February 3, email Pat immediately to ensure that your reservation is recorded. Lunch choices include:
- 1._____ $30 Vegetable Lasagna with Mixed Vegetables 2._____$30 Chicken Marsala with Mushroom Marsala Sauce, served with Parmesan Orzo and Mixed Vegetables (Can be Gluten Free) 3._____$35 Steak Chimichurri, 5 oz Flank Steak, served Medium, topped with Parsley Pesto and Red Wine Demi Sauce along with Parmesan Orzo and Mixed Vegetables
- Note – The Luncheon will be held upstairs. There is an elevator available. The closest parking garage is the Church Street Parking Garage behind the restaurant. Entertainment!! The New Friends’ Thespians will be performing a rollicking funny play for your enjoyment! “My Little Rock and Roll”. We will be collecting Walmart, Target, Gas, and Giant gift cards for Hartley House.

Celebrating February Birthdays Lunch
Birthday lunches are a cherished New Friends tradition. Former presidents now
take turns hosting this popular event!
This February 21 at 12:45 pm, all you Aquarians or Pisces are invited to join Laura Hart at Manalu Italian Restaurant for a classic Italian treat.
Separate checks. The celebration includes a sweet complimentary birthday treat! Meet other February celebrants at a table reserved just for the New Friends birthday gals. Manulu's is located at 5227 Presidents Court, Frederick, MD 21703. And there is plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant.

Shake off those February “blahs” at Happy Hour!
After a cold and snowy January, we hope you can warm up by joining us for our February Happy Hour at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill on Tuesday, February 18, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. They are located at 5201 Buckeystown Pike at Westview Promenade. Firebirds offers specially priced Happy Hour drinks such as draft beers ($2 off), select wines ($6), and cocktails (7.95). Their Happy Hour food menu includes a variety of light fare such as sliders, nachos, shrimp appetizers and more, again at Happy hour prices. If you’d like a heavier option, you may also order from the regular dinner menu. What are Gal-entines Celebrations?
Gal-entine’s Day is a celebration of female friendship that takes place on February 13th, the day before Valentine’s Day (or any day around there). Galentine’s Day is an opportunity for women to come together and show appreciation for their female friends and family. This term was coined by the character Leslie Knopes (played by Amy Pohler) on Parks and Rec. (2009 – 2015, 7 Seasons). Samba - Meets the 4th Thursday of the month.
Join us on February 27th between 11 to 11:15 a.m. at the Elks, 289 Willowdale Rd., Frederick. Lunch will be served around 12:30 p.m. Play lasts to 3:30 or 4 pm. We are limited to 16 players. Five Crowns - Meets the first Thursday of the month. Come join us for the card game 5 Crowns on Thursday, February 6th at 1:00 PM. If you have never played, come anyway. You can quickly learn this game in one or two hands dealt. Join us at the Mt. Airy Sr and Community Center, 703 Ridge Ave., Mt Airy. The game isn’t over until the Kings go wild!
